I’m taking a few minutes away from my usual social media posts to share a few photos and experiences from my Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy!
This year I spent my first Memorial Day weekend down the shore. Oh, and speaking of which…if you are from New Jersey you don’t go to the shore or to the beach. You go DOWN THE SHORE!
Nowadays when people think of New Jersey, they can’t help but think of MTV’s ‘Jersey Shore’. So is it the rest of the country’s misconception that South Jersey is full of Pauly Ds and Snookis? I was about to find out first hand!
My Memorial Day Weekend Recap: Down The Jersey Shore, 2011
Saturday 5/28/11
We arrived late down the shore and met with friends at a backyard shore house party. Everyone was completely wasted by the time we got there. In truth, it looked more like the remains of a party. Our friends were incoherent and stumbling over scattered lounge chairs in this backyard beer can bone yard. Needless to say our visit was a short one. Re-heated pizza here we come!
Sunday 5/29/11
Today started with hours of tanning with the family. I am now updated on all the celeb gossip thanks to People and Us Weekly. A few people went to Barnacle Bills Mini Golf (a hot spot in Seaside Heights!) and then took a quick visit to the boardwalk. I am told it was CRAZY crowded. It took them 30 minutes to find parking and most lots were charging $35, plus wall to wall people trying to walk on the board walk and beach.
The whole family relaxed and hung around the shore house most of the day until it was time for the evening BBQ. After dinner we met up with friends at Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant. It was packed with people dancing everywhere. You know that moment when you enter a full club and you’re immediately grinded on by everyone you’re trying to pass? This might have been the Grand Poobah all the times it’s ever happened…to anyone. We finally found our friends in the back of the outdoor patio bar and the night quickly started looking like something you’d see on MTV. Some of our guy friends had found themselves a few girls (some might consider “grenades”) that were definitely “DTF”. In the meantime, some of our girl friends were busy acting sloppy enough to get us our very own personal security escort from the club!
The cab ride back to our friends place in Lavalette was, no question, the best cab ride of my life. With eight of us crammed in the taxi there was no chance of missing any of the action in my surroundings. It’s hard to ignore a strange new girl who bares a strong resemblance to singer Adele when she’s sitting on a friends lap right next to you. It’s also hard not to laugh when the two are making out and leaning all over me. If that doesn’t get you giggling, I dare anyone not loose complete control of their laughter when she abruptly stops her lip lock to sing Rolling In The Deep, a hit song sung by none other than Adele. The encore was just as special when we changed radio stations and our grenade passengers all sang along with the pop tune again.
When we finally got back it seemed like a good time for a stroll on the beach to the guys and their newfound friends. Apparently by “stroll on the beach” they meant “we want privacy so please go away.” Without getting too specific I’ll just let you know that the night carried on in true ‘Jersey Shore’ fashion.
When we were finally ready to leave, it took 30 minutes for us to find a taxi service that would take us back home, and then 45 minutes for that taxi to get to us! Apparently 2:15am on Memorial Day Weekend is not a great time to call for a taxi! Re-re-heated pizza here we come again!

Happy Memorial Day!!
After a night like Sunday it was time for a relaxing day! I spent about an hour tanning on the beach by the bay in Toms River. The family had another BBQ and then my fiancé and I hit the boardwalk! For Mike and I, there are a hand full boardwalk MUSTS: The Tower of Fear, Midway Cheesesteaks, Sweet Potato Fries, 3 Brothers Pizza, Coin Castle Arcade, Skee Ball, Shoot the Star, orange and vanilla swirl ice cream and getting our pictures taken in a photo booth! We accomplished all of these things in less than 2 hours and then headed home. Even though it was Memorial Day – the day that most people go home – the boardwalk was still incredibly crowded and we had enough for one day.

When we got home, the fire was still going in the backyard, so we relaxed there for a bit before calling it a night.
Overall the weekend was fun, relaxing, and very entertaining at times. So is it exactly like you see on tv? Well if you spent every day tanning and every night at a different club looking for new company then YES!
If you’re like me and want to have a good, relaxing, fun time but know your limits, then no – REAL life is not like a tv show.
Either way, my first Memorial Day Weekend experience down the shore was one I will never forget!
