Biggby Coffee – East Lansing, MI and Beyond: Why We Keep Going Back

I feel quite a strong sense of loyalty to the Biggby company and franchise, partly due to the fact that I live so close to the original store location in East Lansing, Michigan.  Primarily located on the east side of the country between Michigan and Florida, you are likely to find the friendliest staff of baristas at any stop along the way.  The East Lansing location is still open 24 hours a day, which is great for the students of Michigan State University—I can say that I have waited in my car, and at a patio table in November, for an outlet to open up inside.

Biggby Coffee is the largest coffee franchise in the country, and why wouldn’t they be with the deliciously addictive, high quality products they offer?  They are community-minded and keep the environment at heart.  Biggby Coffee is known for hiring locally, helping local organizations, and thinking green!

One of the specific keys to the success of Biggby Coffee is the strong marketing emphasis that CEO Bob Fish places on social media.  Blog and Twitter presence are both important elements to incorporate into any business that wishes to stay wildly popular.  Even before @BiggbyBob —or any of us for that matter— were able to Tweet about their latest endeavor as a follower of their favorite people or places, Biggby baristas would pose daily trivia questions on a neon marker board for their customers to contemplate.  This written communication from the employees makes customers feel connected even if they end up in line during the morning rush.  Biggby caters to all sorts of coffee-lovers, so if you do end up in line during a rush, or you’re just not into ordering a Grande Sugar Bear, with an extra shot, over ice, no whip…you can always drop your money in the bucket and fill your reusable travel mug with one of the many Biggby brews.

If you are part of the Biggby Coffee family, but aren’t following @BiggbyBob, or checking out the latest news at www.biggby.com, you should be!

I’m definitely part of the Biggby familiy!! Even though I am currently living outside of the Biggby area (attention Philadelphia, we could use a Biggby franchise), I always make it a point to get my fill of Biggby while I’m back home in Michigan. Great article, Deanne.

@BiggbyBob Thanks so much for posting my article! I will be stopping at the Biggby location on Bluegrass in Mt. Pleasant later today on my way to class at CMU. I am already craving my next Sugar Bear.

Thank you for this wonderful article. As a michigan state grad i’m sure you also were surprised by the tecent actions where the univ is bringing starbuckd to the campus without having extended an opportunity to a michigan based company. I find I’m questioning the management of this institution.

Denise–you’re welcome! I am glad you enjoyed the article. I would assume that most students would choose Biggby over Starbucks if given the option.
