Virtual Office

Work-life balance: it’s not just a buzz term.  When everything is in balance, you are successful in life and in business.  Having lived on both coasts and in the mid-west, we have a unique perspective on how corporate culture is treated differently from coast to coast .  We’ve taken the best practices from each region to implement a work-life balance that increases productivity across the JSN team and, thereby provides the very best service to our clients.

How does a virtual office work?

Many of our employees and freelancers spend a great deal of time working from home offices and local coffee shops.  Since we don’t staff traditional office spaces, we save on overhead from rent, electricity, computer equipment, furniture and so on.  Our clients are located across the country so we hold regular office hours from 8-6 EST but our Account Managers are available until 9 EST (though many of us are workaholics who rarely watch the “work clock”).  We still hold meetings just like any other office, but we utilize services like Skype and Google Chat for video conferencing.  That way, we can still speak face to face even from miles away.  We utilize an amazing project management system (Basecamp) to keep track of it all, and we even give you (the client) a login so you can stay in the know with your various projects.  Since we’re able to work from anywhere, we do.  This allows us as individuals a more richer work experience.  As a company, this enables us to work with the best of the best social media and web designers across the country.  Yes, across the country… we’re an American company, and we do not outsource any of our work overseas like much of the techie competition.

To the client, working with a virtual office means you get a higher level of expertise for a fraction of the cost.  Employees are happier, and we always set the highest standards for ourselves and our company.

The Environment

Last but not least, JSN is Green Certified by the Institute for Green Business Certification.  We recommend a paperless office to all of our clients and friends.  This solution saves overhead costs on printers, papers, energy and filing cabinets.  Our home offices are 90% sunlit, and when needed, we use energy-efficient light bulbs and office equipment.  We utilize public transportation when available and car-pooling when it is not.  Our shipping packages are made from recycled materials and are reused as often as possible.  When waste is produced, it is recycled or reused.
